I was recently in Milwaukee and I asked the waitress to recommend a good dark beer. I have to say, this was absolutely the smoothest beer I've ever had. I'm on here looking for it in my neck of the woods!!
Carolyn2008-04-21T09:23:39-07:00Fantastic!Very Very Good

This is an excellent beer which I have only enjoyed twice. The first time was at the Safehouse in 2006 and the second time was recently at the Heidel House in Green Lake, WI.
I picked this up at the store thinking it was an actual German stein (stone) beer, a unique style in which heated stones are lowered into the wort (unfermented beer) creating a taste profile of higher sweetness and sometimes light smokiness.

Alas, no, but a beautiful beer nonetheless. Apparently the "stein" in the name refers to it being a good beer to drink from a German beer stein. As an amber lager roughly in the maerzen/Oktoberfest style, but not quite in either category, it's a deliciously drinkable beer, I think in a sub-style all its own.

Prost!

Brett from MA

Brett2007-08-21T17:39:50-07:00RE: Delicious!!Delicious!!
