About the Brew
About the Brewer:
Aidan, Shipping Coordinator at Lakefront, brewed this Smoked Rye Oyster Stout. Around the time most people first groggily hit their snooze button in the morning, Aidan already has a truckload of pallets, stacked with fresh, cold beer cases and kegs, queued up and ready for him to forklift onto an awaiting distributor semitrailer.
After a workday building beer orders and double-checking inventory, Aidan might just conjure up a killer pot of chili, summoning garlic, onions, and peppers into his cauldron. With chili simmering, he’ll trade his wooden spoon for drumsticks, rehearsing his fills and rolls for his band’s next live show. (shoutout Ladybird!)
About the Beer:
Aidan spent several maddening sessions casting runes until they divined a vision for his beer: a backwoods innkeeper furiously brewing a dark, rugged ale for the harvest festival. Once assured his mind was again his own, he came up with this Smoked Rye Oyster Stout. (No exaggeration, just look at his picture!)
Oyster Stouts date back to the early 20th Century, when coastal brewers would use oyster shells as a beer clarifier. Aidan put his own twist on the style, here. Expect this pitch-black stout to conjure flavors of chocolate and toffee, notes of spicy rye, a whiff of smoke, and a subtle mineral quality from the oyster shells.
